For the opening of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Art and Law Residency and later for a re-staging of piece for Soapbox Gallery, I staged a performance influenced by Henry "Box" Brown's journey to freedom. Brown was a slave in Virginia who put himself into a box and mailed himself to Philadelphia. This piece was a response to Arizona passing SB 1070 Immigration Law. For four hours I sat in the crate, sewed clothing, and recited the Gettysburg Address.
