7 Stories About Water
7 Stories About Water is a multichannel video installation that reflects on the consciousness of water and how it interconnects our lives. The work is intentionally fragmented, as I use storytelling techniques to retell water stories shared with me or discovered through my research from activists, artists, and educators in different parts of the world. Through text and narration, I highlight the diverse perspectives within each story.
This piece is an extension of my process, which explores collective and individual memories through embodied research. It critiques the politics of presence, advocating for the inclusion of disinvested communities in political and social spheres. The video features interviews with different people about their relationship to water, and the text—sometimes in sync with the speaker and at other times out of sync or repeating—adds complexity to the narratives and deepens the layers of meaning.
