I was selected as a finalist for the Randall Island's public art installation Flow 13/14. I submitted a maquette showing how to gently re-appropriate existing non-soil gardening technology and products to promote their accessibility among working class NYC residents. Drawing inspiration from New Orleans www.jetsongreen.com/2012/02/aeroponic-t? and thinking about ways to connect the Bronx to other poor urban centers, I proposed using these aeroponic gardening structures and installing circular benches around them. In addition to the sculpture pieces, I proposed to have gardening workshops looking further into immigrant herb use, guerrilla gardening techniques, and sprouting plants from large seeds.
