Revealing New York: The Disappearance of Others
Intervention
2008/2010/2015
An extension to An Auto-ethnographic Study: The Bronx, I did this piece for Pedestrian, Art in Odd Places, in Manhattan on 14th street between avenues First and A. It was restaged in 2010 for Jamaica Flux 10 curated by Heng Gil Han and 2015 AIOP RECALL Sara Reisman and Kendall Henry.
In response to gentrification and the housing crisis, I tried to sell one pound bags of rice, flour, and beans for $3000, $5000, and $1000. At the same time, I masked my face with the real estate section of the New York Times.
